Dozens of housing societies in Islamabad have been declared illegal and CDA announced robust legal measures against their sponsors and owners. CDA officials said names of sponsors and developers of unauthorized housing schemes are being recommended for inclusion in Exit Control List (ECL) to prevent them from leaving the country amid ongoing investigations.

A formal request has been sent to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to provide complete data of individuals involved.

This move comes as part of a broader crackdown decided in a high-level meeting chaired by the Chairman of the CDA last month, where it was resolved to take strict legal action against unapproved and non-compliant housing societies.
