NUST awarded degree 259 students

As many as 259 graduating students received degrees in Electrical Engineering, Information and Communication Systems Engineering and Information Technology during 5th Undergraduate Convocation of NUST School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

The ceremony was held at the main campus of National University of Sciences and Technology here on Saturday and attended by distinguished guests from academia, government departments and corporate sector, besides parents of the graduating students. Sikandar Mustafa Khan, Chairman Millat Group of Companies was the chief guest.

President and Rector gold medals were awarded to outstanding graduates on the basis of academic performance and final-year projects. Additionally, three gold medals sponsored by TechAccess, National Radio and Telecommunications Corporation and University Research Centre were awarded to students on the basis of merit.

Muhammad Imran and Maheen Khalid from BIT-9 won President and Rector’s Gold Medals, respectively. Essam Muhammad Idris Khan and Ameen Yousuf from BICSE-5 won the President and Rector’s Gold Medals, respectively. Syed Kamran Haider and Bilal Zafar from BEE-4 claimed President and Rector’s Gold Medals, respectively. Ameed Khalid from BIT-9, Kinza Nasrullah from BEE-4 and Hifza Javed from BICSE-5 achieved the Industry gold medals. In his convocation address, the chief guest extended felicitations to graduating students, their parents and faculty.

He complimented NUST on its dynamic initiatives and efforts to promote research and innovation. Expressing his admiration, he said, “Universities in the developed countries are important tools to expedite national development. They are the wellsprings of research and intellectual activities. I salute the initiative and sustained efforts of NUST in building meaningful linkages with industry.” Earlier, Rector NUST, Engineer Muhammad Asghar congratulated SEECS team of highly capable and gifted people on transforming this premier NUST School into a model institution with enviable international credentials.-
