Anusha Rehman Ahmed Khan has take charge as new Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication. In a 25 minister federal cabinet of PML-N government that sworn in today in the President House, Anusha Rehman is the second female minister besides Saira Afzal Khan who is Minister of State for Health Sciences Regulation and Coordination.
Anusha who is an Advocate remained vocal on issues related to telecommunication in her earlier tenure as MNA.
In several sessions of National Assembly Standing Committee on IT in the PPP led government, she criticized Pakistan Telecommunication Authority for its inefficiency and inability in tackling telecom related affairs in the country particularly delay in 3G and grey traffic in Pakistan.
According to reports, she was one of the contenders for the federal ministry of IT and Telecom on the basis of her so much interest in the telecom related affairs during past 5 years. With her becoming Minister of State, there is a possibility of a regular Federal Minister and the name of former IT minister Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari cannot be ruled out for the portfolio.
