In his address, NUST Rector Engineer Muhammad Asghar complimented Principal SEECS Dr. Arshad Ali and his dedicated team of faculty and staff officers on making SEECS a center of excellence for quality education and research. “The prefix 6th very clearly indicates that this school is still relatively young, beaming with the pride and feat of having attained a prominent stature in less than a decade and a half. It is highly inspiring to look at its amazing progress from a tiny IT wing of NUST in 1999 to its evolution into an icon of excellence in engineering education in Pakistan. SEECS today is a grand success story, with few parallels in the academic history of Pakistan”, he appreciatively remarked.
Dr. Arshad Ali in his speech highlighted the growth and accomplishments of SEECS over the years and the sound foundation laid for vibrant research culture by the School’s highly talented and committed faculty. He advised the graduating students, that whatever they do in their life, they should do it with deep passion, devotion and perseverance. “Your real challenge is to remain focused in the right direction while tapping the limited resources available, in pursuit of a promising future,” he added.
In their keynote addresses, the chief guests, Engineer Dr. M. Akram Sheikh, Professor Emeritus, Co-Chair NUST Corporate Advisory Council, and Osman Khan, Country Manager, EMC Information Systems Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd. Karachi, complimented NUST on its progressive vision and hard work to promote research and innovation in the country.
While felicitating the students on their well-deserved achievements, they said that their education had equipped them with requisite knowledge and skills. It was now up to them to make the best use of the acquired learning not only for themselves but also to repay the debt of service that we all owe to our society and the nation at large.
Only those who take the initiative and build their strength on knowledge are able to keep pace with time and are destined to lead others. The present times are an age of discovery, invention and innovation. To stay abreast with the spirit of competition, it is imperative to cultivate the attitude of courage, toil and creative thinking.
All what one needs to do is to aim high and pursue their dreams with true zeal and passionate commitment.” They felicitated SEECS on producing a highly capable and motivated corps of young specialists to meet the scientific and industrial challenges, confronting Pakistan today.
