Pakistan’s premier telecom operator, Ufone, pursuing its tradition of being there for Pakistanis in times of crisis has carried out a relief activity for the famine hit areas of Tharparkar, to help ease the pain of the affected people, by the disastrous famine.
In line with Ufone’s vision of helping people and giving back to the society, besides providing support to the deprived, 20 employees of Ufone from all over Pakistan volunteered and travelled to Tharparkar, to support the relief efforts. Apart from this, all Ufone employees donated whole heartedly for the drought stricken people of the area.
This CSR initiative was carried out in collaboration with SWWS (Support withWorking Solutions), which is a non-profit organization working for the community driven development in Pakistan for the last 20 years.
Expressing his views regarding this noble initiative, Head of PR and CSR Ufone, Amir Pasha said, “Ufone continues with its tradition of being there for Pakistanis in time of crisis to mitigate some of the miseries caused by the disastrous famine, which the Tharparkar residents are facing.” He further added, “We feel that it is our responsibility to help our fellow countrymen in the hour of need”.
Through the relief operation, food parcels were provided to 3500 people in different Union councils of Tharparkar (i.e. Tehsil Diplo, Chachro, Nagarparker, Islamkot and Mithi). These food parcels contain a two weeks ration for the affectees including wheat flour, rice, Lentils (Daal’s), ghee, sugar, tea, salt, water bottles and milk.
