ISLAMABAD ( BMZ REPORT ) Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) alongwith Federal Investigation agency (FIA) conducted two successful raids in Sialkot and seized 09 functional illegal VoIP gateway exchanges.
According to details PTA and FIA teams through combined efforts carried out first raid at Flat No. 103, Khan Plaza, Rangpura Chowk, Sialkot and confiscated 07 illegal VoIP Gateway Exchanges, 2 CPUs, 2 PTCL broadband DSL connections and large number of SIMs. Second raid was conducted at Green Town Bogra, Sialkot, as a result 02 illegal VoIP Gateway Exchanges, 2 CPUs, 2 PTCL broadband DSL connections and large number of SIMs were confiscated. Two persons were arrested on the spot and are in the custody of FIA for further investigation.
Chairman PTA, Dr. Syed Ismail Shah has appreciated the efforts of PTA and FIA teams. The Chairman has directed PTA Zonal Offices to further expedite joint raids against such illegal activities so that loss to the national exchequer can be prevented.
It may be added that PTA is observing the international traffic coming in to the country, round the clock. It is done to identify the illegal gateway exchanges and track the elements operating them. PTA Enforcement Division, with the support of Zonal Directorates, is vigilant and making elaborative efforts to curb the grey traffic in the country.
