Mobilink Foundation has organized Pakistan’s largest corporate blood collection drive. The nationwide blood donation drive organized by Mobilink’s CSR team in collaboration with Sundus Foundation and The Indus Hospital, resulted in collection of over 1100 pints of blood over the course of 10 days.
The drive was organized across 15 Mobilink offices nationwide where the employees provided blood donations. Contributing further to the cause, Mobilink in partnership with Sundus Foundation and Indus Hospital Karachi brought onboard country’s leading educational institutes, Hamdard University Karachi, Punjab Group of Colleges, Lead University Lahore, Government College for Boys Shalimar Campus and Submit College Faisalabad to help over 3,500 young Thalassemia patients across Pakistan.
Omar Manzur, Head of Corporate Communications Mobilink said, “Employee volunteerism is a core driver of the Mobilink Foundation and our employees are strongly encouraged to promote a humanitarian spirit. I am very glad to see that our Torchbearers have taken the lead in making such a lasting impact on so many young lives.”
The drive was as a means of collecting blood for children suffering from a range of chronic and life threatening illnesses including Thalassemia. Thalassemia is a hereditary genetic blood disorder. Over 5,000 children are born with this disease in Pakistan every year and their survival depends on regular blood transfusion for the rest of their lives. Many children succumb to early demise because of not being able to receive blood transfusion in time.
