Today Senate Standing committee showed serious concern regarding nonpayment of pensions of 40 thosends retired PTCL employees. Supreme Court has already issued its verdict in favor of the PTCL pensioners and the Standing committee stood behind this verdict and called for its implementation. Government of Pakistan was also advised during today’s session in Parliament house that they should stand with the workers.
Chairman Committee, Shahi Syed stated that the privatization of PTCL should help Pakistan and shouldn’t go in the favor of Dubai. He also added that the report that has been asked by the committee regarding privatization of PTCL should be submitted as soon as possible. He said that the committee has asked for the report numerous times but has not been answered by the Ministry of Information and Technology nor by Privatization Commission. He stated clearly that he doesn’t have any personal grudge with anyone and wants to see the implementation of the committee recommendation.
