Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is organizing three days INET conference in collaboration with Internet Society -Asia Pacific (ISOC-APAC) at Islamabad from 16th to 18th November, 2015. The theme for this conference would be “Towards Digital Economy in Pakistan: Building ICT Agenda for Sustainable Development”. Renowned speakers from Asia Pacific region including speakers from International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Asia Pacific Telecommunity (APT) and national experts would deliberate on opportunities and issues in internet developments and challenges in digital world.
INET Islamabad is expected to bring together over 250 participants from the Government agencies, fixed and mobile telecom operators, internet service providers, academic institutions, banks, ICT entrepreneurs, commercial companies and the general public. The event will host deliberations on a selection of topics most relevant to Pakistan in the context of its journey towards a digital economy and building an ICT agenda for sustainable development.
The Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) revolution is transforming the way we interact, work and live, forcing us to ask questions and seek answers about social development and economic growth. ICTs are now used widely to trigger long-term sustainable development, bringing benefits to everyone regardless of location, age, disability or income. The conference will also focus on the need to foster an enabling environment aimed at attracting investment in ICT infrastructure, encouraging public-private partnership, building an ecosystem for proliferation of mobile broadband, harmonizing policies and regulatory frameworks.
