Ufone; a top- tier telecom operator in Pakistan, joined hands with The Diabetes Centre (TDC); a non-profit organization, to mark this years’ World Diabetes day on November 14th, by setting up a health camp at Ufone Tower.
Under this collaboration, TDC provided specialized diabetologists to Ufone to conduct several free tests including blood sugar screening, cholesterol level monitoring, Body Mass Index (BMI), blood pressure and foot neuropathy exclusively for Ufone employees, under its CSR activities.
Regarding this initiative, Mr Amir Pasha, Head of PR & CSR Ufone said, “All Ufone employees are like our family members, so being part of the family we feel that it’s our responsibility to be on the lookout for their well-being. This session created much needed awareness about diabetes and preventing the onset of the disease while compelling people to follow an active lifestyle.”
Adding his comments, Mr. Naveed Hameed, CEO, The Diabetes Centre (TDC) said, “Prevention is better than cure’, keeping that in view we at TDC are focused on increasing health literacy and awareness about diabetes, which is reflected in this collaboration with Ufone.”
He added, “Moreover, we intend to develop capacity in healthcare sector for diabetes management by delivering quality clinical services that result in improved patient outcomes regardless of their financial situation.”
The initiatives highlighting importance of the day included: A health camp followed by a diabetes awareness session and last but not the least; a walk near Ufone tower symbolizing importance of the day.
