In today’s world, Information Technology knowledge is of prime importance as it not only unlocks the doors of progress and prosperity but also provides a chance to get access to global opportunities.
Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad and Vice President Nasir Saeed expressed these views while speaking at certificate-awarding ceremony arranged for the participants of ‘LCCI Web Graphic Skill Course’ at LCCI on Saturday. Muhammad Anees and Asif Khalil from LCCI’s IT Department supervised the course that was participated by more than 35 individuals.
The LCCI president said in the knowledge race of 21st century and rapid globalisation, the quality of information technology-based education had to be enhanced to bring it at par with international standards for bringing the country out of economic mire.
Sheikh Arshad said, “The government would have to spend more on education as the existing budget is meager to produce desired and required results, and to achieve the above mentioned goal.” panacea
He said that it had now become very important to extend possible help to students, as their competitors into the job market were students from the developed world. Right out of the gate of their Alma Mater, he said, the students face altogether new challenges, therefore they must be equipped with IT skills to cope with these challenges and for the purpose, the educational institutions must continue to review and upgrade their curricula.
He said that IT had become very important because it not only ensures development and prosperity in a country but also proves instrumental in taking optimum benefits from the trade opportunities at global level.
LCCI VP Nasir Saeed said that educationists must stay in touch with private sector for feedback on upcoming industry requirements regarding new hiring, adding that the curriculum should be designed in proper consultation with the private sector that had both the ability and capacity to guide the educationists in right direction.
In the job market, he said, the people having knowledge of information technology were given preference over those who were without it. He added that the only objective behind starting IT and computer related courses at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry was to equip members of this chamber with latest business technologies so that they could be able to get a respectable place in the world market.
The LCCI office-bearers expressed the resolve that the chamber would continue to conduct such courses in the IT field.
