To honour fire fighters on International Fire Fighter’s Day, Ufone conducted a fire drill on Wednesday at Ufone Tower in Blue Area of Islamabad in which 700 Ufone employees participated.
4 May of each year is observed as the International Firefighters’ Day to acknowledge the services of firefighters who dedicate their lives to the protection of life and property, risking the ultimate sacrifice of their lives.
On the occasion Ufone’s CEO Rainer Rathgeber said that the drill would help the employees to deal with any untoward situation in future and also make the work of firefighters somewhat easier. He said: “The purpose of the drill was to comply with country’s Fire Code and to pay homage to the sacrifices of firefighters across the globe and acknowledging their sacrifices.”
According to country’s Fire Code, fire drills in high-rise buildings are to be conducted regularly. The fire drill was for the management staff and building occupants.
He said that Ufone is a socially responsible company that takes care of safety of its employees by following the laws and we are committed to ensure that all our employees are well aware of safety procedures at the workplace.
Fire prevention and the need for more intensive and thorough training is one of the main aspects of International Fire Fighters Day. Fire fighters and their agencies around the world are constantly stressing fire prevention: in schools, to the community, at public events, at assemblies and even to their own families.
