Chairman Pakistan Computer Association, Munawar Iqbal in a statement issued here on Saturday, termed the budget announcement as positive and IT business friendly. He said the budgetary steps taken by the government for the IT sector were revolutionary to save it from collapse. He said this will benefit the IT sector and its stakeholders and will help the growth of the information technology in the country. He said the withdrawal of GST on the IT industry particularly on computers and laptops will accelerate and improve the IT sector; promote documented economy; broaden the tax net with new members; speed up the business transactions through scheduled banks; and end the Khepia mafia and smuggling from the market. He further said that this will enhance maximum revenue to the government. The removal of sales tax on IT industry will not only benefit the common man but also youths and disabled people who will benefit from the IT market, he added.
Munawar Iqbal congratulated Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Advisor to PM on Revenue Haroon Akhtar Khan and FBR officials for getting the PCA proposals included in the budget.
He also congratulated Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and prayed for his speedy recovery.
