Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design distributed 38 laptop among students under Phase 2 of Prime Minister Laptop Scheme on Tuesday.
Begum Zakiya Shahnawaz, Provincial Minister for Population Welfare, Environment Protection and Higher Education was the chief guest on the occasion. Mr. Nazir Hussain Regional Center HEC, Director General , Prof. HinaTayyaba, Vice Chancellor, PIFD, Prof. Shaista Vine Registrar PIFD, Mr. Attitque Ahmed, Director Administration PIFD, senior faculty members and students were also present on the occasion.
Previously 143 students were awarded laptops under Chief Minister E-Youth initiative in 2013 and 148 students were awarded laptop under Prime Minister Laptop Scheme in 2014, and now there are 78 students belonging to different departments who have qualified for award of laptop under Prime Minister Laptop Scheme, out of which 38 students are being awarded laptop in this phase.
Mr. Nazir Husain while introducing the PM laptop scheme, said,” Knowledge of economy is very necessary for the development of any country. Prime Minister initiative for laptop is the right idea of Prime Minister of Pakistan to give students to access technology and internet so that they can learn and research in better way. HEC initiative which includes smart universities will enable each student to have access to the high speed internet in each area of the university. Furthermore smart class room and safe university project is also in pipeline.”
Addressing the participants Begum ZakiyaShahnawaz said, “Congratulation for not only receiving these laptop but evaluating to enable you to compare in the world. Use these laptops to show your excellent management skills in the felid of design and to pick up best from yourself as your institution promotes colors, elegances and simplicity.”
Prof. HinaTayyaba, Vice Chancellor PIFD, in her brief address said, “I thank the Government of Pakistan for this initiative which has multifarious positive implications for the educational and particle life of student. And also I would say Thanks to Begum ZakiyaShahnawaz, the Chief Guest and Nazir Hussain for gracing this occasion.”
Furthermore, Souvenirs were presented to the Chief Guest and Guest.
