Modern technology imperative to make election process more independent, transparent: President
President Mamnoon Hussain says use of modern technology is imperative to make the election process more independent and transparent.

He was speaking at a function held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad this morning as part of the activities of the Voters Day.

The President expressed satisfaction that the Election Commission of Pakistan has started using information technology and other latest methods in the election process. He said the government is ready to provide all the possible facilities to ECP in this regard.

President Mamnoon Hussain said that the district voters education committees formulated by the Election Commission of Pakistan should be fully utilized for the voters education and creating awareness about the democratic system.

Mamnoon Hussain said that the strength and importance of vote should be accepted the failure of which creates problems in the country.

The President expressed the confidence that observance of Voters Day would help strengthen foundations of democracy and highlight importance and sanctity of the right to franchise.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Election Commissioner Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza enumerated the steps being undertaken to ensure holding of free, fair and transparent elections.
