Nine VCs summoned on Jan 20 in affiliation of substandard law colleges case

Supreme Court of Pakistan Wednesday has summoned vice chancellors of nine universities on January 20 in a case pertaining to affiliating non-standard law colleges.

These universities include Punjab University, Peshawar University, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Islamia University, Gomal University, Balochistan University, Karachi University, University of Sindh and Shah Abdul LatifBhittai University.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar also sought details of eligibility of the law colleges and asked to submit the respective documents in this regard.

CJP also ordered to bring file of this case that is under hearing at Lahore High Court (LHC). It’s a democratic state, people elect political representatives and we believe in supremacy of law, he added.

Earlier, CJP expressed resentment over private medical colleges for taking high fee from the students. The judge said that he was being criticized over Mayo Hospital visit, adding that he will personally look into the matter related to the health of country’s children.

He further sought details of bank accounts of private colleges’ owners and announced that this case will also be heard on Saturday and Sunday.

Clean water case proceedings will also be held along with this case, he continued. CJP also ordered to present proper record in both cases as early as possible.
