Declamation contest for Karachi schools

KARACHI (PRESS RELEASE)

Pakistan’s leading science and technology institute, Usman Institute of Technology (UIT) in collaboration with National Institute of Professional Development (NIPD) organized a declamation that brought together emerging young orators from various secondary schools across Karachi to compete for top positions.

The event aimed at providing a favorable platform for young speakers to develop effective thinking and speaking skills. It also brought them a unique opportunity to listen to ideas and opinions of fellow speakers to broaden their vision and experience. The topic of the declamation contest was ‘Naya saal, ek naye azm kay saath’ (New Year with New Commitments). The judges’ panel comprised prominent educationists, Dr. Zahir Ali Syed, Director, Usman Institute of Technology (UIT), Dr. Qudsia Tariq, Department of Psychology, University of Karachi, Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Khateeb, Dow University of Health Sciences and Dr. Salman Zubair, Department of Geography, University of Karachi.

Rayan Khan of Beacon Light Academy was declared the winner of the declamation contest while Nabiha Qamar of Akbar Public School was declared 1st runner-up and Selena Bodani of Muammadi Public School the 2nd runner-up.

Syed said. “We are pleased to provide a conducive platform to our young orators to showcase their talent and passion. I am hopeful that many of these talented speakers will emerge as future leaders who will lead us towards progress in various fields. In addition, such events train youth to develop penchant for dialogue which is imperative for bringing about a civilized society. I am thankful to our partner NIPD and the distinguished panelists who helped us materialize the event. Usman Institute of Technology will continue to bring educational opportunities to our youth to help them become better professionals and civilized individuals.”

The top three contestants received trophies and cash prizes whereas all the participants were given certificates of participation. The participating schools received certificates as well.
