Report from central bank suggests that e-commerce sector of Pakistan will cross $1billion in the year 2017-18. This target will be attained much earlier than expected earlier. The progress in the sector can be attributed to increased broadband penetration as well as the number of online shopping and nevertheless payment portals. Adam Dawood, head of TCS e-commerce portal Yayvo, said that strong growth will further push the sales beyond $1billion mark. If we have Rs.9.3 billion in Prepayment sales keeping in view the 85% market operating with cash on delivery then realizing $1billion in just six months of the Fiscal year 2017-18 is not a big deal.
He said the number of subscriptions has increased from 44.5 million to 52 million subscribers and the number of online merchants has increased from 571 to 905 up till January this year. the increase in penetration and high demand for smartphones with the availability of merchant is driving the demand and supply leading to significant growth.
With the availability of movie tickets online and also travel plans people find it much easy to carry out their transactions or plans online rather visiting the agent.
The reliability of online shopping due to its ease and comfort is attracting consumers.
