Pakistani Telecom Company achieves ISO 9001:2015 by Bureau Veritas (BV)

Ufone announced today that it has achieved certification of the new standard ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) for its Technology Department, covering both the Network as well as IT portfolios. With this, the Technology Department of Ufone has successfully transitioned from ISO 9001:2008 that it acquired in Y2012 to the coveted ISO 9001:2015 standard, as the company continues to demonstrate uncompromising commitment to quality excellence and customer satisfaction. Technology team has demonstrated great emphasis on leadership management, evidenced its capacity to address organizational risks, and established simplification of the language in its management systems. ISO 9001:2015 sets a higher standard to quality management system than its predecessor; focusing this time also on performance through a process-oriented approach. It also takes into consideration factors like risk-based thinking, while simultaneously employing a Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle at all levels.

The certification was awarded after an independent assessment conducted by Bureau Veritas (BV), an internationally recognized certification body. BV certification is recognized and renowned throughout the world as a valued symbol of reliability, sustainability, and trust. With operations in over 120 countries, BV has issued more than 400 ISO certificates across diverse sectors in Pakistan.

ISO 9001:2015 certificate was presented to the President & CEO of Ufone, Rashid Khan and the Chief Technology & Information Officer (CTIO) Jafar Khalid by the CEO of Bureau Veritas, Syed Talib Hussain on October 15, 2018, in a ceremony held in Ufone Tower. The CTIO of Ufone, Jafar Khalid said, “ISO 9001:2015 based approach to business will help Ufone to further enhance the efficiency of its offered services and innovate customer centricity”. Speaking at the occasion, the President & CEO of Ufone Rashid Khan emphasized that,” Globalization and its associated challenges demand standardization of processes under a structured QA program”.

CEO of BV Talib Hussain also stressed on the importance of standardization for businesses today. “The certification to ISO 9001:2015 recognizes Ufone’s commitment in monitoring and managing quality across all functions of its Technology Division”. The International Standards Organization (ISO) reviews its standards every five years in order to remain current in an ever-changing business environment. ISO 9001 sets quality management standards and guides businesses and organizations to ensure their products and services consistently meet customer’s requirements and that commitment to quality is constantly improving. ISO 9001:2015 is the most relevant certification to date, replacing the previous ISO 9001:2008 standards.
