The Usman Institute of Technology (UIT) organised a meetup for programmers, developers, academics and professionals of the computer programming language Python.
The gathering held at the UIT’s Karachi campus on October 27 received an overwhelming response from professionals and students alike. The institute has been holding this event regularly and the latest of these programmes was attempted to get united the professionals from the industry and universities to share the latest developments and their views around the Python ecology to students.
Google Developer Expert and Chief Technical Officer SastaTicket.pk, Mashhood Rastgar, addressed the audience on ‘Introduction to Python Karachi and Pycon’. He highlighted the importance of the Karachi Python group in keeping abreast the local Python wizards, including students with the latest developments on Python.
He said that Python since its formal introduction in 1990 has emerged very strongly in the programming arena and year-on-year there is tremendous and rapid development on it. He added that the purpose of Karachi Python group is to help each other know about these developments from different points of views and analytical perspectives.
“This meetup has helped both the professionals and students to keep them informed and knowledgeable on Python – the most important high-level computer language for programming on both small and large scales,” he said.
Assistant Professor Habib University Dr Abdul Samad gave a presentation on ‘working with PyTorch’. He said Pytorch – an important open source machine learning framework based on Python – has become very popular among researchers. The main reason behind its propelling popularity is the flexibility and ease-of-use.
Muhammad Zaid – Data Analyst, Love for Data on ‘Modern Computer vision with Python’; Saadullah Ameen – Backend Developer, Health at Hands on ‘Packaging with Python’; Ali Raza – CTO, Bitwits ‘Redis with Python’ and Muhammad Qasim Pasta – Assistant Professor, UIT ‘Network Science and Python’ also spoke at the event.
