55 percent of the new customers subscribed in the market have been grabbed by Ufone due to its outstanding performance in the month of October. And this is the highest share among all cellular operators.
Pakistan Telecom Authority has revealed that subscribers of mobile phone companies grew by 496,107 in October and have reached 152.16 million.
Among all, Ufone had the most numbers of subscribers i.e. 274, 058 and they demand mobile internet on its network. And now with this addition of new subscribers, the overall customers of Ufone has reached to 21.1 million.
It shows that data customers demand speedy and uninterrupted mobile broadband services along with cheaply priced internet packages, regardless of the difference between 3G and 4G technologies.
Contrary to Ufone, Telenor Pakistan, which offers 3G and 4G services, lost 93,229 subscribers in October. As many as 67,001 data subscribers left its network in October. Telenor’s total subscribers’ base stood at 43.15 million in October 2018.
After Ufone, Zong added 232,457 new connections on its network. Zong’s total subscriber base reached 31.7 million.
Jazz added 82,821 new subscribers throughout the country. Its overall user base stands at 56.17 million in October.
The growth of 3G/4G users will give impetus to economic activities. A study by GSMA stated a 10 percent increase in broadband usage will increase GDP growth by 1.38 percent while 10 percent increase in usage from 2G to 3G services will increase GDP by 0.15 percent.
