Teach For Pakistan and Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to mark the beginning of a partnership aimed at strengthening the discourse and engagement between QAU students and Teach For Pakistan’s work on developing youth leadership for equity and excellence in education. This partnership signifies a commitment towards spreading awareness on the crucial challenges of educational inequity in Pakistan and amplifies the role that bright, motivated graduates play in overcoming those challenges, particularly through joining the Teach For Pakistan Fellowship, a highly selective, two-year commitment to teach and lead change in
schools in low-income communities. The MOU was signed by the Chief Executive Officer of Teach For Pakistan, Ms. Khadija Bakhtiar and the Vice Chancellor of QAU, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali, an award winning, eminent academician, who has been championing student leadership development as animportant part of the QAU experience.
The signing took place at the Islamabad Model College for Girls in Quaid-e-Azam University Colony, Bara Kahu. This is a Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) school in Islamabad, where three Teach For Pakistan Fellows have been teaching for over a year, actively working with their school staff and communities to help each child reach their full potential. The ceremony was attended by Principal Ms. Noor-e-Ain and Bara Kahu’s Area Education Officer Mr. Muhammad Sohail Khan.Dr. Ali commended the passion and commitment of the current Fellows teaching at the school, remarking that, “The Fellowship equips young people with skills that they can apply to any field, such as academia and public service. It ensures that our future leaders in those fields will have the humanity and compassion needed to truly serve our country.”Speaking at the occasion, Ms. Bakhtiar said, “We are very pleased to be working closely with one of the most prestigious universities in Pakistan, and are looking forward to
offering its students the opportunity to apply for a unique Fellowship experience that will develop their leadership in pursuit of eliminating educational inequity in Pakistan.”

Through campus activities such as information sessions, guest lectures and one to one meetings, student will learn about the state of education in Pakistan, the Fellowship opportunity and the way they can contribute to eliminating inequity in education and help all of Pakistan’s children reach their full potential. Seven QAU alumni have been awarded the Fellowship in the past, demonstrating great impact in the classroom and growth in their own personal and professional skills. Both parties are excited to help this number grow through the formalization of this partnership. Teach For Pakistan is a partner in the Teach For All global network of 50+ independent,
locally led and governed organisations with a shared mission to develop collective leadership. They recruit outstanding university graduates and young professionals to atwo-year, paid Fellowship to teach full-time in under-served communities, and develop the leadership and motivation to work effectively towards education reform in the long-run.
