Ambassador of Peoples Republic of China, Mr. Yao Jing visited Headquarters Special Communications Organization (SCO) today. On his arrival, he was received by Director General SCO Major General Ali Farhan, HI (M).
The main purpose of the visit was to broaden areas of bilateral cooperation in the field of telecom with special emphasis on Pak-China OFC connectivity by exploring new avenues of collaboration between the two countries. During the meeting, technological uplift of remote areas of Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and facilitation of telecom connectivity of China with neighbouring countries of Pakistan were also discussed.
During the course of his visit, the Chinese Ambassador was given briefing on updated status of Pak-China OFC Project executed by SCO. The Ambassador, lauded the efforts of SCO on successful completion of flagship ICT project executed under difficult terrain and weather conditions much earlier than its planned timelines.
He was also briefed about the salient features of Pak-China OFC Phase -2 Project and its current status. The Ambassador expressed his keenness in the project.
Later, he visited Pak China Telecom Center and was impressed by the professional standards being maintained by the organization.
