Trade and economic cooperation between Iran and Pakistan is essential, Mohammad Surkhabi
Better trade relationship is in the better interest of both the countries, Qurban Ali

Deputy Ambassador of Iran Mohammad Surkhabi and commercial counselor Mohsen urged on promotion of economic cooperation between Pakistan and Iran. He said that Pakistan and Iran are neighboring Islamic brother countries and strong economical relationship should be established between both the countries. He said that regional trade and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Iran is very essential to boost the economy of both the countries.
He shared his views in a meeting with a delegation led by Qurban Ali Chairman FPCCI, Capital Office, Islamabad. During the meeting, enhancement in economic cooperation, bilateral trade, difficulties faced by business community has been discussed.
Qurban Ali, Chairman, FPCCI Capital Office, said both Pakistan and Iran should work together to develop a special mechanism. He stressed on opening of Bank branches both side to enable business communities of both countries for making transaction to increase trade. It is also right time for both countries to make progress on trade mechanisms to facilitate Business community of both the country.
He also added once the COVID situation improves, there will be a regular exchange of delegation which will improve economical trade through B2B meetings and bring both nations more closely. He further said that better trade relations between the two countries are in the wider interest of both the countries.
Qurban Ali informed that the FPCCI and the business community of Pakistan are ready to take all possible steps to promote trade and increase bilateral trade. Pakistan’s trade relationships with Iran are needed desperately. Issues and non-tariff bearers should be resolved and removed on priority basis. Trade should be enhanced by air, rail, road and sea.
Deputy Ambassador of Iran Mohammad Surkhabi and commercial counselor Mohsen appreciated the comments of Mr. Qurban Ali. He said that relationship between Pakistan and Iran are of special importance. Along with the governments, the people of Pakistan and Iran will also get benefits from closer trade relations. Both countries have large business markets and geo-strategic competitive advantages, but we need to avail these opportunities to increase the trade volume. He said that Pakistan-Iran relationship not just the matter of protocol but also brotherly relationship. Iran is also willing to enhance the trade and cultural ties with Pakistan. Existing business issues should be resolved on priority basis.
The Iranian embassy and consulate are ready to extend all possible cooperation to the Pakistani private sector for the promotion of investment and trade, He added.
