Muhammad Shakeel Munir, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that he would try to take Chairman CDA to all markets for better solution of issues of traders. He assured that the ICCI would also work with market associations to address the key issues of traders so as to facilitate them in promoting the trade activities. He said this while addressing a meeting of the Traders Welfare Committee of ICCI. Senior Vice President Jamshed Akhtar Sheikh, Vice President Muhammad Fahim Khan, President of All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajira and Traders Action Committee Islamabad Ajmal Baloch, Convener ICCI Traders Welfare Committee Khalid Chaudhry, Chairman F-10 Markaz Tahir Abbasi and President Ahmed Khan, Supermarket President Shehzad Shabbir Abbasi, Secretary General Aabpara Market Akhtar Abbasi, President Sitara Market Syed Altaf Hussain Shah, President of G-10 Markaz Abid Abbasi and Secretary General Azhar Amin, Secretary General Jinnah Supermarket Abdul Rehman Siddiqui, Safdar Abbasi and Waleed Khalid from I-9 Markaz, Acting President of I&T Center G-8/1 Nasir Chaudhry, Aftab Gujjar President of G-11 Markaz, Tahir Mehmood Khokhar from Blue Area, Shahid Abbasi Vice President Karachi Company, Chaudhry Zafar Iqbal President of I&T Center G-10/4, Steel Market President Chaudhry Irfan and others attended the meeting.
The meeting passed a resolution calling on MCI Administrator Hamza Shafqat to resolve the issue of trade license and board tax and withdraw their notices. Another resolution was passed calling upon the CDA to take notice of the magistrate’s violation of his powers. The pushcarts from G-10 Markaz and G-11 Markaz should be shifted to the ground and DMA should conduct an inquiry against a self-made contractor for renting out the Wagon Adda of G-10/4.
Addressing the meeting, Ajmal Baloch, President, All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran and Traders Action Committee Islamabad, said that the CDA Magistrate has no authority to issue challans of MCI. He said that according to the notification of the District Magistrate, he has the power to hear only the challans of the CDA whereas according to the law, the CDA Magistrate has only the power to impose a fine of up to Rs.500 during brief hearing. He demanded that the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad should take notice of the violation of his powers by the Magistrate.
Khalid Chaudhry, Convener, ICCI Traders Welfare Committee and Jamshaid Akhtar Sheikh, Senior Vice President ICCI said that trade license is required only for those who trade in food items across Pakistan but DMA in Islamabad has issued trade license notices for all types of businesses in violation of the Prime Minister’s orders as instead of abolishing the license fee it has been unilaterally increased manifold, which has no legal status.
ICCI Vice President Muhammad Faheem Khan, Traders Welfare Association F-10 Markaz President Ahmed Khan and Chairman Tahir Abbasi said that DMA has illegally allotted open space and thus increased encroachments which should be taken notice of.
Other participants in the meeting demanded that the Chairman CDA should visit all the markets including Karachi Company, G-10 and G-11 and take all necessary steps to resolve the key issues of traders as due to inattention, markets do not seem to be part of Islamabad.
