Muhammad Islam, Vice President, Iqra University, Islamabad along with is team visited Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) and showed interest to collaborate with ICCI for organizing a fashion show to display the products designed by students while ICCI members of relevant sector could also show their products in the show. He said that the purpose of organizing fashion show is to showcase the quality of textiles products designed by students, especially for females to provide them better exposure so that they could be absorbed in the local fashion industry. He said that the students were designing many good quality products that needed to be highlighted at a larger scale for their market development.
Muhammad Islam said that the close collaboration between Iqra University and ICCI for this initiative would provide students a good platform to show their talent for fashion industry and introduce latest fashion trends. He said that such events would provide skilled manpower to the fashion industry and help in its better growth besides improving exports of fashion products. He said that ICCI should cooperate in providing internships to Iqra students in local industry to provide them practical experience of theoretical knowledge. He also exchanged views on many other initiatives that could be undertaken by his university in collaboration with ICCI.
Speaking at the occasion, Muhammad Shakeel Munir, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry appreciated the proposal of Iqra University for organizing a fashion show in collaboration with ICCI and assured his cooperation to make it successful. He said that the event would also be helpful in promoting industry-academia linkages and would be a win-win situation for both sides. He said that the fashion industry was a growing sector in Pakistan and universities should focus on producing more educated and skilled human resources for this industry for its better growth that would also help in promoting exports of fashion products. He further said that Iqra University should sign an MoU with ICCI to provide discount in admission and tuition fee to the students of ICCI members, which was well-received by the Vice President of Iqra University.
Jamshaid Akhtar Sheikh Senior Vice President and Muhammad Faheem Khan Vice President ICCI also welcomed the proposal of Iqra University for organizing a fashion show in collaboration with ICCI and assured their support to make it successful. They also shared many useful ideas for further promotion of the fashion industry.
