ICCI demands industrial zone in the capital

Chairman Founder Group ICCI and Former President Islamabad Chamber M Akram Farid hosted a reception in honor of the former Presidents ICCI. Speaking on the occasion, M Akram Farid stressed that the government should establish a new industrial zone for the Islamabad region to encourage new investment, promote industrialization, increase exports and create more jobs the youth.
- Akram Farid said that due to the efforts of former Presidents ICCI, the Chamber has now emerged as one of the premier Chambers of Pakistan and has achieved many milestones to mark its name at home and abroad. He further said that he did his best to represent and patronize the business community and act as a bridge between the government and the business community. He said that the former Presidents ICCI have played a significant role in strengthening and activating the institution during their tenure which is commendable. He hoped that the present and incoming Presidents of ICCI would play their part in making it a stronger and more effective institution so that it could play a more active role in better protecting their interests.
Speaking at the occasion, President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Muhammad Shakeel Munir paid tributes to the valuable services rendered by the Chairman Founder Group M Akram Farid for the betterment of the business and industrial community and expressed hope that he would continue to do so in future as well. He said that as per vision of the Founder Group, discounts have been obtained for ICCI members from hospitals, laboratories, schools, colleges, universities, PIAs and other institutions. He further said that with the guidance of the Founder Group, facilitation desks of FBR, Police, District Administration, Pakistan Customs and Federal Tax Ombudsman have been set up in ICCI that are resolving issues related to these institutions from the Chamber.
During the ceremony, prayers were offered for the forgiveness of the deceased Presidents ICCI including Khalid Masood Bhola, Raza Khan, Munawar Mughal, Muzammil Sabri, Siddique Butt and Chaudhry Aslam (Lates).

They paid tributes to the services of M. Akram Farid as the Chairman Founder Group and said that during his tenure the long standing problems of the industrialists and traders were solved. They said that the CDA addressed important issues, including the most important issue of trade change, which was approved by the efforts of the Founder Group. The most significant achievement of the Founder Group was the successful ICCI 4th Business Excellence Award ceremony held at the Presidency, Islamabad. Under the leadership of the Founder Group, for the first time in the history of the Chamber, a three-day Property, Housing and Construction Exhibition was held at Pak-China Friendship Center which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan. More than a hundred companies had set up stalls at the exhibition. As a result of the prudent policies of the Founder Group, efforts are also being made to construct multi-storey car parking in various markets of Islamabad.
