In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the DFP spokesman while recalling the supreme sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs said that the valiant struggle of Kashmiris against despotic Dogra Maharaja was a cornerstone of the ongoing struggle for right to self-determination.
Reiterating Kashmiri’ resolve to carry forward the mission of martyrs he said that the Kashmiri youth who have taken the mantle of resistance were fully determined to take the ongoing struggle to its logical conclusion.
Stressing the need for an early and amicable solution of Kashmir dispute the spokesman said that a just and equitable solution of the lingering dispute was essentially imperative to ensure durable peace besides putting an end to looming, ever-present threat of nuclear war between the South Asian nuclear neighbors (India-Pakistan).
Kashmiris would observe Kashmir martyrs’ day tomorrow
Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control, in Pakistan and the world over will observe the Kashmir Martyrs’ Day, tomorrow [July 13], to pay homage to the martyrs of July 13, 1931 and all other Kashmiri martyrs.
The day will be marked by a complete shutdown in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and a march towards the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Naqashband Sahib in Srinagar where the martyrs of July 13 are buried.
Call for observance of the day has been given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and supported by all pro-freedom leaders and organizations. The APHC in a statement issued in Srinagar urged people to make call for shutdown and march a success to send a strong message to the world that the people of Jammu and Kashmir believe in peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute under the UN resolutions and are not ready to accept Indian subjugation, at any cost.
Rallies, seminars and conferences will be held in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan and all major capitals of the world to pay tributes to the Kashmiri martyrs.
On 13th July 1931, the troops of Dogra Maharaja had killed 22 Kashmiris, one after another, outside Central Jail in Srinagar during the court proceedings against one Abdul Qadeer who had asked the Kashmiri people to defy the despotic Dogra rule. At the time of Namaz-e-Zuhr, a young man started calling Azaan and was shot dead by the Dogra soldiers.
Another youth took his place and he too was martyred by the troops. Thus, 22 youth sacrificed their lives till the completion of Azaan. Since then, the Kashmiris are observing the July 13 as Kashmir Martyrs’ Day every year.
BJP presenting silence of graveyard in Occupied Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti
President of People Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Indian government is presenting the silence of graveyard in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir as a victory to court.
Mehbooba Mufti talking to reporters in Srinagar welcomed the Indian Supreme Court’s decision of disregarding the Indian Government’s fresh affidavit on Article 370, which will be discussed in the apex court on day to day basis starting August 02.
She refuted the claims made the Narendra Modi government over the changes post abrogation and said the silence in Jammu and Kashmir is enforced. The ghunda has entered the house and beaten everyone inside, now it is boasting of silence inside the house, she said in a reference to BJP’s policy on Kashmir.
She noted nobody is allowed to speak the facts in occupied Kashmir. “It is not that people are even speaking against the (Indian) government. People are not allowed to speak anything other than the government’s narrative, if one does, they are not spared. Even journalists are being booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and Public Safety Act (PSA),” she said.
PDP chief said all the laws imposed in occupied Kashmir post abrogation of its special status are all illegal. She pointed out that the administration cannot make any laws about Kashmir when the matter related to the constitutional change was pending before a court of law. “The basic premises of law were trampled when Articles 370 and 35-A were removed in 2019. Court judgement was clear that no changes can be made to Article 35-A and 370 without the recommendations of the constituent assembly of Jammu Kashmir. There was no assembly in Kashmir when the special status was abrogated,” she said.
