Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir concluded his two days successful visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to the statement issued by ISPR on Sunday, during his visit, COAS had detailed meetings with the Military leadership of Iran including Chief of General Staff of Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Bagheri. Military commanders on both sides agreed that Terrorism was a common threat to the region in general and both countries in particular. They vowed to eradicate menace of terrorism in the border areas through intelligence sharing and effective actions against the terrorists’ networks, and explore avenues for enhancing cooperation in security domain.
COAS also called on President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahain. During discussions significance of Pakistan-Iran bilateral relations for regional peace and stability was highlighted.
COAS was presented with the Guard of Honour by a smartly turned out contingent of Iranian Armed Forces at the Military Headquarters on his arrival.
Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad has said that General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of General Staff for the Armed Forces of Islamic Republic of Iran and General Syed Asim Munir Ahmad Shah, Islamic Republic of Pakistan’s Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) visited in Tehran.
According to the statement issued by the Iranian Embassy, a wide range of issues of interest to the two parties including defense cooperation were discussed in the meeting.
Meanwhile according to another statement issued by Iranian Embassy, Iranian Foreign Minister Amirabdolahian met with COAS General Syed Asim Munir to talk about different aspects of bilateral ties and highlighting history-long commonalities/links and positive prospects of future relations.
Meanwhile in an earlier statement the Iranian embassy said that we warmly welcome the arrival of COAS General Syed Asim Munir to Iran. The visit indicates firm determination of high officials of Iran and Pakistan to promote all-out relations, a long stride towards comprehensive expansion of ties; the achievements will prove to be tangible and positive.
