The senators of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) staged a strong protest against the court’s verdict on the sentence of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The party leaders made it clear that it is their firm belief that they will win elections without Imran Khan. “We know that challenging the system will come at a cost, and we are willing to pay that price,” said Senator Saifullah Abro.

The Senate session was scheduled for Sunday for legislative purposes, and it was presided over by Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani. PTI senators protested against the verdict on Imran Khan’s sentence by wearing black armbands. Senator Saifullah Abro exchanged harsh words with Senator Afnan. PTI members raised slogans in favor of Imran Khan, and female PTI members led the chanting.

Senator Saifullah Abro expressed his condemnation of the court’s decision against Imran Khan’s sentence. The PTI members protested by walking out of the session. Law Minister Azam Tarrar responded, stating that PTI’s walkout was inappropriate. He asserted that the eligibility or disqualification process is governed by the Election Act and the Constitution. Under the law, we submit our affidavits and tax returns, and they remain classified documents.

Law Minister Azam Tarrar stated Imran Khan’s theft was proven during the hearing of the reference initiated by the Election Commission, and he was absent during 342 questions. The sentence was pronounced in accordance with the law. Nawaz Sharif and Yousuf Raza Gilani were disqualified and sent home by the highest court without being given the right of review and appeal. In contrast, Imran Khan has the right to approach the High Court and Supreme Court.

It is evident that PTI desires to declare Imran Khan ineligible. However, the public is with PTI, and they believe that they will win elections without the support of other parties. If you are afraid, amend the Constitution to declare PTI a banned party through elections. In 1998, when PPP’s hands were caught red-handed, a defeated leader said that elections should be held every six months until they win. Now, PTI also wants the same, that elections should continue until they are certain of victory.

The court’s verdict against Imran Khan’s sentence was strongly condemned by Senator Saifullah Abro, and PTI senators walked out in protest. Law Minister Azam Tarrar stated that PTI’s walkout was not appropriate, and the eligibility process is carried out according to the law. Imran Khan’s opponents question whether the PTI members will undergo DNA or urine tests. To this, Khawaja Asif responded that they are ready for any tests. PTI previously faced a similar situation when their leader was sentenced, but they were unable to do anything. They demand fair electoral opportunities and suggest that if PTI is afraid, they should amend the Constitution and declare PTI a banned party.

In conclusion, Imran Khan’s sentence has drawn strong protests from PTI senators, with the party expressing its determination to win elections without him. The legality of the sentence and the eligibility process have been debated, and PTI’s opposition leaders have raised questions about conducting DNA or urine tests for PTI members. The situation remains tense as the party vows to continue their protests against the court’s verdict.
