On a petition filed by PTI Chairman Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi and Al-Qadir Trust, Islamabad High Court on Wednesday called for comments from the Respondents which include the Directorate of Labor and Industries Islamabad.
In the petition filed through Advocate Jahanzeb Sukhera, the Petitioners claimed that despite several written requests, the Directorate of Labor and Industries has failed to register Al-Qadir Trust as required under The Islamabad Capital Territory Trust Act, 2020.
The new Trust Act, enacted on 27th August, 2020, required that all existing trusts be freshly registered under the new Act. In the petition, it is claimed that Al-Qadir Trust had written to the Directorate of Labor and Industries several times asking it to duly register the Trust, however, no response was ever received to such requests. Mr. Sukhera contended that the inaction on the part of the state in registering the Al-Qadir Trust violated the rights of the Trust and its Trustees warranting interference by the Court.
After hearing Mr. Sukhera’s arguments, the Islamabad High Court issued notices to the respondents and called upon the Directorate of Labor and Industries to appear in person as well as submit a written reply.
