“14th August, 1947, is a historical day when Pakistan was created and India was divided on the  concept of two nation’s theory to grant the Muslims of the Sub-Continent an Independent and sovereign state to shape their future in line with the teachings of Quran and Sunnat, fulfill their political democratic urges, make their economy progressive free from feudal, and Hindu capitalistic interest-based system, and promote their own culture and cultural heritage as opposed to ultra-western liberal morality of the European colonialism, which continues in the 21st century under the leadership of the United States to advance novel worldwide colonial, military and economic intrusions in the East, with particular eye on the crescent world, its economy, natural resources and ideology’ says Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League and ex-Convener All Parties Hurriyat Conference AJ&K Chapter in his strong statement of felicitations to the people and the government of Pakistan.

On this auspicious occasion Farooq Rehmani remembered and paid tributes to the founder of Pakistan, Quaid Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, his great team of companions (during the struggle of freedom), and millions of Muslims of India, who laid down their lives, were robbed of their honour and property by mad hordes of armed Hindus or forced to flee to Pakistan, when the declaration of independence was made by the colonial British rulers at Delhi. He hailed the ideological foundation of a galaxy of the Muslim leaders and thinkers and the freedom movement under the charismatic leadership of Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah who inculcated a golden concept of a nation among huge Muslim crowds of the Muslim India in early 19th and 20th century in aftermath of a bloody- tragic fall of a great Muslim empire in 1857.

But, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani laments the loss of great values of Islam, political and economic democracy and the concept of a total egalitarian social welfare state as was enunciated by Dr. Iqbal and Quaid in their speeches and writings during the colonial period of the 19th and 20th century. All those thoughts are in our dreams today after the 76 years of independence. He said due to a feudal economy and frail democracy, people had yet to depend upon foreign aid and debts and dictates of International Monetary Fund, resulting in falling Rupee value, inflation, price hike, unemployment and nil infrastructure. The gape between the haves and have-nots is rising every morning and a merciless capitalism, feudalism and bureaucracy had kept an overwhelming majority under the grip of their claws to carry out the programme of exploitation.

“Among multiple tragedies is the tragedy of Kashmir, 2/3 of which is under India’s illegal occupation, while India and Pakistan are observing their day and exchanging messages and pleasantries. The state is still after the 76 years of independence of India and Pakistan under an illegal and forcible occupation of India and the irony is that without holding plebiscite across the State as envisaged in numerous United Nations resolutions, India took another forcible step by bifurcation of the State into two parts and merging them with India. No practical steps were taken to frustrate India’s short-term and long-term designs of demographic changes in Kashmir. This was not the fait acompli of Kashmir, but the people of Kashmir today on the independence day of both States are compelled to lament their fortune, he stated and beseeched God to acknowledge their sacrifices and break their shackles of occupation.

Muhammad Farooq Rehmani said that the previous governments have done nothing in regard to the solution of the Kashmir and against India’s dismembering measures of 2019. Now when a caretaker government has replaced the system, it is all the more difficult, but let us pray to Almighty Allah for an early elected parliament and government in the country in the upcoming months to not only change the economic conditions of the people, save them from financial stress and strain but also initiate bold and practical decisions to address the aspirations of the Kashmiris to severe the repressive cobweb that keeps Kashmir and it’s inhabitants so long mourning upon their conditions and daily loss of their dear and near ones in the length and breadth of the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The right to self-determination is an inalienable right of the Kashmiris across the State for which ways and means must be taken to fulfill the aims and objectives of the United Nations “, he concluded.
