SECP records 25% rise in company registrations

The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has registered 2,220 new companies in July 2023, reflecting a substantial 25% increase from the previous year. The collective capitalisation for these newly registered entities amounted to Rs3.3 billion.
The total count of registered companies in the nation has risen to an impressive 197,828, as stated in a press release.
Private limited companies constitute about 57% of Pakistan’s corporate landscape, with 41% being single-member companies, and the remaining 2% being comprised of not-for-profit associations, trade organisations, and limited liability partnerships (LLPs). Of these companies, 99.7% have undergone online registration, while three foreign companies have successfully established their businesses within Pakistan. Furthermore, a total of 86 foreign applicants have registered from overseas locations.
Among various sectors, the information technology sector led the way with the incorporation of 316 companies. The trading, services, real-estate development & construction, and food & beverages sectors also exhibited notable growth in company registrations.
Foreign investment has been attracted to 42 new companies, with investors from various countries.
