The nation is celebrating Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAWW) on Friday with religious zeal and fervour, with citizens from all walks of life coming together to commemorate the birth of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The day began with a thirty-one-gun salute in the federal capital, Islamabad, and a twenty-one-gun salute in all provincial capitals, reported Radio Pakistan. Special prayers were offered at mosques after the Fajr prayers, focusing on the unity of the Muslim Ummah and the progress and prosperity of the country.
The state broadcaster added that, in cities and towns across Pakistan, special conferences, events, and Mehfil-e-Milad gatherings have been organised to pay homage to the final messenger of Allah Almighty – whose life and teachings are seen as a guiding light for all of humanity.
Streets, roads, buildings, mosques, and houses have been beautifully decorated with colorful lights and flags to mark this auspicious occasion.
President Dr Arif Alvi and Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar both extended their blessings and called for unity among the nation.
President Alvi, in his message, emphasized that the birth of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) is a “tremendous blessing for all of humanity, as his life exemplified obedience to Allah Almighty, justice, compassion, and love for fellow human beings”.
“In the whole life of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), we find a perfect model not only for faith and worship but also for all aspects of life”, President Alvi said, emphasising that his teachings reflected the comprehensiveness and universality of the message of Islam.
He said Pakistan was a country with different cultures and religious diversity, and hence, “We should give importance to this diversity and should work diligently for the promotion of unity and better understanding among the fellow citizens.”
The president also underscored the universal and timeless nature of the Prophet’s teachings, which continue to provide solutions to the numerous challenges faced by the world today. He called on all Pakistanis to cherish the country’s cultural and religious diversity and work towards understanding and unity among its citizens.
PM Kakar, on the other hand, encouraged the nation to align their lives with Islamic principles and to spread the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He reminded Pakistanis that they are fortunate to be part of the Ummah of the Prophet (PBUH).
He also emphasized that the life of the Prophet (PBUH) serves as an example of compassion, tolerance, and love. He urged Pakistanis to follow the values of brotherhood, love, and compassion advocated by the Prophet (PBUH) and to make His message a guiding light for unity and brotherhood among Muslims and people of different faiths.
The prime minister called for turning to the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings, particularly at a time when Pakistan was faced with different challenges.
He also called for compassion for the poor and needy as emphasised by the Holy Prophet (PBUH). “Let us come together to help those who are struggling, become a supporting hand for those in need, and build a better and more equal society for all,” he remarked.
Kakar prayed to Almighty Allah to make Pakistan a cradle for peace, progress and brotherhood and enable his countrymen to follow the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings both collectively and individually.
