Caretaker Interior Minister Senator Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Khan Bugti says the ultimatum for voluntary repatriation of foreign nationals staying illegally in Pakistan is for everyone and is not aimed at targeting a particular nationality, especially Afghans.
Briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Interior in Islamabad on Wednesday, Mir Sarfraz Bugti said only holders of valid passport and visa can enter Pakistan after the expiry of the deadline on first of the next month.
The Minister dispelled the impression that the government of Pakistan desires repatriation of Afghans only.
He said the repatriation deadline is for every foreigner, who is staying illegally in Pakistan. He said no country accepts an individual to come and stay through illegal means. He said those, having refugee cards or visas, are Pakistan’s guests.
Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti further revealed that some Iranian Balochs are also entering Pakistan illegally, but it should be cleared to all that Pakistan has decided to repatriate all such foreigners.
Meanwhile Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfaraz Ahmed Bhuti held a meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday and exchanged views on overall law and order situation in the country.
They also discussed matters of mutual interest, including the upcoming general elections.
The Speaker expressed his satisfaction on the overall law and order situation.
The Interior Minister assured to extend all possible cooperation to the Election Commission of Pakistan to hold transparent polls in the country. He also apprised the Speaker of measures taken for the repatriation of illegal foreign nationals.
