Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Alfred Grannas called on Caretaker Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue, and Economic Affairs Dr. Shamshad Akhtar at Finance Division on Wednesday.
Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar welcomed Alfred Grannas, Ambassador of Germany. Finance Minister appreciated the growing bilateral relations between Germany and Pakistan. She stated that Pakistan highly values its bilateral ties with the Germany including trade and economic relations.
The Finance Minister apprised the German Ambassador about the economic reform agenda of the interim government which aims to bring economic and fiscal stability in the country. She informed that the government has been successful in concluding first review with IMF recently. The fiscal and current account deficit has narrowed. She further informed the Ambassador on key reforms being undertaken by the caretaker government including SOEs, privatization, forex exchange regime, and reforms in FBR. Finance Minister stated that the interim government would like to hand over a stable economy to incoming political government which can continue the economic policies for the ultimate good of the people.
Alfred Grannas, Ambassador of Germany shared sentiments of gratitude with the Finance Minister on offering the cooperation and support for enhancing and strengthening bilateral relations between both the countries. The Ambassador also acknowledged the reform agenda of the government and assured full support to Pakistan in achieving fiscal sustainability.
