The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has decided to issue licenses to transport companies under the International Trade Transportation Convention (TIR) for international transportation of merchandise. The participating transport companies will have to apply to the Directorate General of Transit Trade of FBR through their transport association for obtaining a license. To do this, a high-level committee has been set up comprising representatives of FBR, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Communications, Ministry of Commerce, Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation, Customs Karachi, and Transport Association, which will not only issue licenses to them but also Their working has also been regulated by SR No. 31 (i) By 2024, FBR has decided to issue licenses to international transport companies in Pakistan under the TIR Convention. They have been allowed to order goods and imported goods, as well as they have been given the facility to export their goods through Pakistan through Pakistani ports. In this regard, some agreements have been completed and some agreements will soon It should be completed. Imports from China’s Xinjiang province and Afghanistan are already taking place through Pakistan, and so far only a large fleet of trawlers of the National Logistics Corporation is providing transportation services in Pakistan. (OIC) member countries have already started implementing agreements on commercial freight through Pakistan to Turkey and Europe through rail and road transport. The transport licenses issued in Pakistan under the TIR international agreement will also allow companies to transport goods from Pakistan to neighboring countries, which will enable Pakistan to play a major role in the trade of the region as a transit hub. For which with these countries Agreements will have to be made under the TIR Convention, which will not only bring income to Pakistan but will also create new employment opportunities.
