The Allahabad High Court in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh has rejected the appeal of the Najman administration of the mosques while upholding the decision of the district judge of Banaras to grant the right of puja to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust in the basement of the Gianavapi mosque. According to media reports, Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal issued this order on Monday. The District Judge had appointed the District Magistrate of Banaras as caretaker of the property and in an order on January 31 allowed worship in the basement of the Gianavapi Masjid. Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal dismissed both the appeals of the Muslims against these orders, saying that the case After perusing all the documents related to and considering the arguments of the parties concerned, the Court has upheld the January 17th order of the District Judge Banaras appointing the District Magistrate Varanasi as caretaker of the property and the January 31st order allowing worship in the basement of the mosque. There is no reason to interfere. It is clear that the Gyanwapi Masjid was built centuries ago where Muslims have been offering prayers regularly, but after the martyrdom of the Babri Masjid, extremist Hindus, like many other mosques, have claimed Gyanwapi Masjid as a temple. It has been demolished and constructed.
