Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima has said that the government will establish National Digital Commission soon for ensuring digitization of national economy and paperless governance.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Sunday, she said the commission will be headed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif keeping in view of its importance.

Highlighting the benefits of digitization of national economy, Shaza Fatima said it will not only improve governance and tax collection efficiency but it will also smooth the inter-ministerial coordination.

Terming paperless governance as vital to speed up the operations of government, she said it will remove bottlenecks in government’s operations.

The Minister of State said over four billion rupees have been allocated for training of the youth in IT sector.

She said Huawei Pakistan will impart IT training to around three hundred thousand youth of country.

Shaza Fatima said negotiations are underway with big IT companies including Google, Meta and Microsoft for the training of country’s youth which will brush up their capabilities in IT sector.

On the internet issue, she categorically stated the government neither shut down the internet service nor it lessens its speed in the country. She rejected the news that internet was being throttled by the government.

The Minister of State said four new cables are being laid down in order to ensure the high speed internet in Pakistan.

Highlighting the steps taken for the promotion of IT sector in the country, she said Prompt Engineering has been introduced in DG Skills, which is an essential tool of Artificial Intelligence.

The Minister of State said the IT Ministry is offering coding skills in five major languages in order to equip the youth with modern age requirements.

She said two IT parks will be established in Islamabad and Karachi with the cooperation of South Korea and over ten thousand jobs will be created in the Islamabad based IT park.

Shaza Fatima further said over twenty Special Technology Parks will be established and two hundred fifty E-Rozgaar centers will be opened under Public-Private Partnership across the country.

She said keeping in view of the immense potential of Pakistan in Gaming industry, Center for Excellence for Gaming and Animation will be established in Karachi and Lahore.
