Inauguration of Software Technology Park (STP) Kotli
Another step to enhance Information Technology Landscape of AJ&K

Following the successful establishment of STPs in Mirpur, Muzafferabad and Poonch, Special Communications Organization (SCO) has inaugurated another state-of-the-art Software Technology Park (STP) in Kotli. This modern facility, built to international standards, is a testament to SCO’s commitment in enhancing IT infrastructure across Azad Jammu & Kashmir. Kotli STP marks another milestone in providing local youth with access to high-speed internet, computing resources and wide-ranging IT facilities.
Maj Gen Umar Ahmad Shah, Director General SCO, inaugurated the facility, with university officials, senior civil and military representatives, IT professionals, and students in attendance. In his address, Maj Gen Umar Ahmad Shah reiterated SCO’s commitment to fostering IT growth in the area. He emphasized that, in line with the Chief of Army Staff’s vision, over 40 software technology parks and freelancing hubs have been established across Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. These initiatives are aimed to empower local youth by providing them with platforms to hone and showcase their IT skills, contributing to Pakistan’s economy through increased foreign exchange earnings.
These initiatives play a crucial role in both reducing unemployment and economically empowering young people, making a significant contribution to overall economic development.
