If govt does not implement agreed agreement, we can hold a long march: Liaqat Baloch

Says the rulers sitting in power corridor are not solving the problems of the people

Naib Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Liaqat Baloch has said that if the government does not implement the agreed agreement, they can go on a long march, the countdown has started regarding the agreement. He said the people are very disappointed with the government, parliament and establishment, adding the rulers sitting in power corridor are not solving the problems of the people. He said the government and the opposition parties do not trust each other.

Addressing a press conference at Jamaat-e-Islami office in Chakwal, Liaqat Baloch said that there was a written agreement between the government and Jamaat-e-Islami for public relief, adding that Interior Minister Muhsin Naqvi and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar had signed the agreement from the government side.

The agreement included seven basic things, cheaper electricity bills, reduction in petrol prices, reduction of tax burden on the salaried class, exports, facilities in respect of essential commodities and refund of taxes, revision of cruel contracts of IPPs and reduction of non-developmental expenditure. The government has promised us a complete and detailed examination of the IPPs, the countdown to the agreement has begun.

He clarified that Jamaat-e-Islami, including Chakwal, is protesting together with the businessmen across the country and after 14 days of sit-in, they have adopted the path of nationwide strike and protest, because the people are very disappointed with the actions of the government, parliament and the establishment.

He said the sitting rulers are not delivering to the people. He further said that the public agenda of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has reached every house and is being discussed everywhere, adding the people are looking towards Jamaat-e-Islami for solution of their problems.

Liaqat Baloch further said that Jamaat-e-Islami has started the Haq Do Awam Ko Movement in view of public issues. He said the Jamaat-e-Islami is going to start a membership campaign across the country, adding we are starting the membership campaign from Chakwal.
