Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, stated that they will approach the higher courts against the 26th constitutional amendment and take the issue of electricity bills to the people’s court. Following a nationwide referendum, the crucial phase of the “Give Rights to the People Movement” will commence. He emphasized that the rulers imposed by Form 47 are on a mission to distort the constitution, institutions, and the rights of the people. The tyrannical rulers of the country are united, while the nation is divided; the corrupt ruling elite is entrenched in corruption, monopolizing resources and not even paying taxes. They have collectively issue of electricity bills and inflicted the torment of IPPs and inflation on the public. He urged the public to unite and throw these rulers out, announcing plans to conduct a referendum to boycott the bills. He warned the rulers that if they do not rein in the IPPs, the nation will not pay their bills.
He posed a question to the rulers about who destroyed the profitable national institutions. Now, they are auctioning off these destroyed institutions with no buyers in sight. For ages, the elite, supported by feudal lords and capital, have clutched the national treasury like snakes, depriving the people of basic rights. Our children do not have access to quality education, and schools are being handed over to NGOs. Jamaat-e-Islami will resist this oppression and expose corrupt rulers in public forums. To raise awareness and organize the people, they have launched the “Give Rights to the People Movement.” He encouraged Pakistanis not to lose hope and to learn from the resilience of Palestinians; if they remain disheartened, the rulers will have free rein to plunder. He urged the public to join the movement and bring about revolution in the country.
In his address at a public gathering in Sargodha, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman criticized the 26th constitutional amendment, stating that it is flawed and that the fake rulers have no right to distort the agreed constitution. He mentioned that the constitution guarantees fundamental rights, addressing issues such as the abolition of interest, promotion of the national language, provision of justice, and the formation of laws according to the Quran and Sunnah, none of which the rulers care about. They have attempted to seize control over the judiciary, making it even harder for ordinary citizens to obtain justice. He accused them of deceiving the public in the name of constitutional amendments, claiming that the history will not forgive those who participated in the amendment. He vowed to expose them.
He highlighted the crisis in education, noting that nearly three crore children are out of school, questioning where the provincial education budget of two thousand billion goes. He demanded answers from the rulers, criticizing the Punjab government for deciding to hand schools over to the private sector instead of repairing them. He questioned how they can supervise NGOs if they cannot directly oversee schools. He stated that education is not a trade but a right for every individual, which they must reclaim.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman mentioned that Jamaat-e-Islami has initiated the “Give Rights to the People Movement” against IPPs, claiming that it was through their efforts that five IPP agreements were canceled, with more cancellations expected in the future. He called for the immediate cancellation of IPP agreements involving the Sharif family, the military, and other government figures. He affirmed that Jamaat-e-Islami will continue to follow up on the Rawalpindi electricity agreement. He dismissed the government’s claims of reducing inflation as lies, suggesting that the Prime Minister and his niece, the Chief Minister, should visit stores to see the reality of rising prices. The fabricated statistics of economic improvement being presented today were also showcased by previous governments, he noted, adding that farmers are suffering, and there is black marketing of fertilizers and seeds. He described the situation in Punjab, KP, and Balochistan as troubling, with the rule of robbers in Sindh, chaos in Karachi, and asserted that Jamaat-e-Islami will unite the entire nation to establish a system of justice and fairness through peaceful political resistance.
