Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur stated that they would go to any limit to buy Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), claiming that the airline is being targeted for acquisition at a low price by the Sharif family. He made these remarks during a media interaction after attending a graduation ceremony for students completing the Alternate Learning Pathways (ALP) program.

Gandapur criticized the current government, attributing the rise in terrorism to the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) government and asserting that the security situation was better during their tenure. He emphasized that the fight against terrorism would continue, stating, “Our forces are combating the resurgence of terrorism.”

When asked about Maryam Nawaz’s health, he replied that he does not closely follow her situation and suggested that people should pray for her. He noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has only two helicopters and reiterated their commitment to pursuing the acquisition of PIA, asserting that if they succeed, they would retain the name PIA.

Gandapur declared that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s budget is surplus, with full revenue collection, and announced a gathering in Swabi on November 9, where they would pass a resolution and outline their future plans. He warned against confusing their supporters with mixed messages, stressing their aim for true freedom, autonomy, rule of law, and the protection of the constitution.

He responded to claims that he played a role in the release of Bushra Bibi, stating he would share information when necessary, emphasizing his credibility over rumors. He expressed frustration over the legal troubles facing their leadership, asserting that he has faced multiple cases and warned of consequences for those undermining the constitution.

Gandapur condemned attacks on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House and stated that peaceful protests would continue despite recent arrests. He highlighted the ALP program, which aims to provide education to out-of-school children, noting that 14,487 students have completed their education under this initiative, with a total of 62,000 students benefiting so far.

He remarked on the government’s duty to provide facilities and education to children who miss school due to state failures, stressing the importance of education over infrastructure. The education minister added that over 4.7 million children are out of school, but 1.4 million have been brought back into the education system, with special focus on remote and tribal areas.
