The Islamabad High Court has issued notices to the Secretary of the Interior and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), seeking their responses regarding the petition related to the VPN ban. Chief Justice Aamir Farooq heard the petition filed by citizen Mubashir Qayoom, challenging the ban on VPN services. The petitioner’s lawyer argued that the federal government’s decision to ban VPNs directly affects him, as complete restrictions have been imposed on the social media platform X. The petition requests that the Ministry of Interior’s notification from November 15 be declared null and void, considering it a violation of fundamental rights. The court issued notices to PTA and the Ministry of Interior, and adjourned the hearing indefinitely.
