Founder Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, while announcing a committee for negotiations with the government, warned that if his demands are not met, a civil disobedience movement, a reduction in remittances, and a boycott campaign will be launched. According to media reports, Imran Khan, while speaking to journalists in Adiala Jail, said that PTI’s two main demands are: first, the formation of a commission under the senior-most judges of the Supreme Court to independently investigate the events of May 9 and November 26; and second, the release of political prisoners who are unjustly incarcerated.

Imran Khan stated that he has formed a committee under the leadership of Umar Ayub to hold negotiations with the government. He further warned that if these demands are not accepted, the party will start a movement involving civil disobedience, a reduction in remittances, and a boycott.

Imran Khan also referred to a powerful official in the country, stating that the “king of the jungle” has placed himself above the constitution and law, and through the 26th Amendment, has subjugated the judiciary and all other institutions to maintain a personal monarchy, effectively imposing a decade-long dictatorship in the country. He alleged that state terrorism is being used to spread fear in the country, and the public is being pressured to accept an illegitimate government.

He claimed that agencies have been diverted from their primary duties and are now targeting PTI, which is damaging the image of national institutions like the military. Referring to PTI’s previous protests, Imran Khan said that the entire country was shut down, the capital was cut off from the rest of the provinces, and unarmed civilians who reached Islamabad were shot at. He further accused the government of perpetrating violence, saying that many people were shot dead with direct gunfire, their families were targeted, and they were humiliated.

Imran Khan added that the government is stoking ethnic tensions within the country and claimed that Pashtuns are being targeted in Islamabad on ethnic grounds, which he strongly condemned. He emphasized that PTI is a national party that has kept Pakistan united, and he urged his supporters to remain united, regardless of any efforts by government elements to divide them, as they are all Pakistanis above any ethnicity.

Imran Khan also mentioned that whenever the party announces a protest, additional cases are filed against him in jail. He revealed that many PTI members are still missing, and there are serious concerns regarding their safety. The PTI founder chairman demanded that the government publish data on the detained citizens, as well as the injured and deceased individuals in hospitals and morgues, as soon as possible. He also called for the preservation of CCTV footage from hospitals and Safe City cameras to ensure the truth is revealed to the public.
