A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court seeking an immediate ban on YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok. The petition, filed by a citizen named Aslam through Advocate Nadeem Sarwar, names the federal government and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority as respondents. The petitioner stated that every other person in Pakistan has a YouTube channel, which is being used for blackmailing. The petitioner mentioned that immoral videos are being uploaded to gain views and make money, and that there is no licensing requirement to upload any kind of video on YouTube and Facebook. The petitioner further noted that fake videos are being uploaded on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, with YouTubers showing their family members in their vlogs, which is detrimental to the family system. The petitioner has requested the Lahore High Court to issue an order for the enforcement of the Citizen Protection Rules and to direct the closure of all social media platforms.
