After meeting former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is imprisoned in Adiala Jail, the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) made it clear that if the government does not form a judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9 and November 26, the talks will not move forward. On Sunday, after receiving permission from the government, a PTI negotiating team consisting of party leaders met Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi. After the meeting, while speaking to journalists, Chairman of Sunni Ittehad Council Sahibzada Hamid Raza stated that it was a detailed meeting in a controlled environment, where they presented their point of view to Khan Sahib. According to him, Imran Khan said that an impartial commission should investigate the incidents of May 9 and November 26 to ascertain the facts and identify those responsible. He suggested that the commission should be headed by an impartial judge.

Hamid Raza further stated that PTI’s team would inform the government that they are ready for the third round of talks. They would be asked to work on the judicial commission matter and come back with progress. He acknowledged that despite several weeks passing, there has been no progress in the negotiations. So far, two rounds of talks have been held between the government and PTI.

Hamid Raza mentioned that Imran Khan has set a deadline of January 31 for the negotiations, and only Imran Khan will extend this deadline if there is progress. PTI’s leadership has also demanded the release of their workers and leaders who are imprisoned in jails, in addition to the formation of a judicial commission. In response to a question, Hamid Raza said that if the verdict in the 190 million pounds case against Imran Khan on January 12 is unfavorable, it will lead to bitterness in their approach during the negotiations. He noted that it would not be possible to have negotiations in a good environment after sentencing Khan Sahib, and the situation would worsen. However, Imran Khan has set January 31 as the deadline for the negotiations.

He also added that Imran Khan had formed a committee under the leadership of Omar Ayub and granted them full authority to handle the matter.
