The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office in Lahore, in collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, conducted a successful raid at a Ufone franchise in Arifwala, Sahiwal, where SIM cards were being issued illegally.

During the raid, 650 paper fingerprints (6,500 prints), 1,500 digital fingerprints (15,000 prints), 12 silicone thumb/finger sets, 105 active SIMs, 3 BVS devices, a scanner, and a laptop were seized. The FIA team confiscated the equipment and arrested the franchise owner on the spot, while another individual from Bahawalnagar was taken into custody for allegedly supplying fingerprints.

Further investigation into the case is still ongoing, and an FIR has been registered.

This action is part of PTA’s continuous efforts to prevent the misuse of the Multi-Finger Biometric Verification System (MBVS). The authority remains committed to eliminating the illegal issuance of SIM cards and ensuring the enforcement of the law.
