Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has stated that the attack on Jaafar Express in Balochistan is a continuation of India’s terrorist mindset in Pakistan. The terrorists who attacked Jaafar Express were in contact with their handlers in Afghanistan. The eastern neighbor is the main sponsor of terrorism in Pakistan.

During a press conference on Tuesday, held alongside Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, DG ISPR provided details regarding the attack on Jaafar Express and the operation carried out for the rescue of passengers. He stated that the terrorists carried out a well-coordinated attack in an extremely rugged area. Before targeting the train, a large number of terrorists first attacked an FC checkpoint, where three FC personnel were martyred.

He explained that the terrorists used an improvised explosive device (IED) to blow up the railway track and then forced the passengers off the train, dividing them into groups. Social media was later flooded with fake AI-generated videos related to the train attack, with Indian media using these fake AI-generated videos for propaganda.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif further stated that fake videos were used to build a false narrative against Pakistan, and Indian media attempted to tarnish Pakistan’s image through fabricated videos.

The Army spokesperson also revealed that on the night of March 11, the terrorists released one group of hostages based on linguistic grounds, which had some logistical reasons—primarily because they could not manage so many captives—and also to portray themselves as humane.

He added that some terrorists remained on the train while a large group moved towards their hideouts in the mountains. Security forces tracked their movement and successfully eliminated them—a first-time occurrence in such an operation.

According to DG ISPR, throughout the terrorist operation, the attackers remained in constant contact with their handlers in Afghanistan. He revealed that on the morning of March 12, when security forces targeted the terrorists using snipers, a group of hostages managed to escape. FC personnel rescued these hostages, though some were martyred by terrorist gunfire.

On the afternoon of March 12, the Special Services Group (SSG)’s Zarrar Company took command of the operation. As snipers eliminated suicide bombers among the hostages, more hostages got the opportunity to escape from the terrorists’ captivity in different directions.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif stated that once the hostages outside the train managed to flee, SSG’s Zarrar Company personnel entered the train through the engine and cleared the entire train, bogie by bogie, from terrorists, successfully rescuing the hostages.
