KARACHI  (  WEB  NEWS   )

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Ameer Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has warned the government to significantly reduce the electricity and fuel prices with immediate effect or face the music right after the holy month Ramazan.

The JI supremo said this while addressing a big public Iftar in Karachi’s Gulistan e Johar area, on Friday. Speaking on the occasion, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said held the form 47 government responsible for the ongoing crises in the country and said that the form 47 rulers didn’t represent the electorate in the country.

He said that the rulers had nothing to do with the issues of the common man in the country. They can’t realize the situation of bikers when they can’t afford the expensive petrol, they don’t realize the dilemma when a salaried person receive an electricity bill more than his salary, they don’t know the pain faced by a father when he can’t afford the fee of his children, he said.

The JI leader said that the prevailing situation and the ruling regime had become unbearable. He further said that the JI would be launching a country wide renewed resistance movement against the form 47 regime after Eidul Fitar. In the first phase, protests will be held outside Governor Houses in all the provinces, he said while announcing the roadmap of the resistance movement.

He said that the only way forward for the country was to ensure social justice and single educational system. He highlighted that 27 million children under the age of 15 were out of schools because their parents couldn’t afford their fee. He added that 96 percent population in the country couldn’t afford to pursue higher education. The JI will be moving forward with the single point agenda of demanding immediate and considerable reduction in fuel and electricity prices. He elaborated that the fuel prices in the global market have dropped down significantly but the government was not passing out the impacts to masses just to maintain their luxuries. Similarly, he said, the government revised agreements with several independent power producers after the JI ‘s activism but it didn’t pass on the impact to consumers.

Talking about the Pakistan People Party government, he said that it was negating the Constitutional provisions for devolution of powers. The PPP government enjoys the NFC Awards but doesn’t issue the PFC, he said.

On the occasion, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman directed the union councils chairmen, in the nine towns run by the JI, to double their efforts and push their limits to facilitate people.

He stressed the need for unity among Karachiites in order to gain their due rights. He urged Karachiites to join the JI’s post Eid movement and said that the prevailing situation and unrest in the country could only be addressed by genuine leadership from among the masses.

Earlier, the JI supremo received a warm welcome by area residents and was showered with rose petals.

JI leaders, including Taufeequddian Siddiqui, Raja Arif Sultan, Naeem Akhtar, Town Chairman Dr Fawad, Zahid Askari and others flanked the JI supreme leader. A large number of area residents participated in the public Iftar.
